Unplugging from social networking

I just deactivated my Facebook account.

I waste so much time just surfing Facebook, creeping around on people and maintaining superficial relationships with my acquaintances. The people in my life who mean the most will still be able to get in touch with me on the phone, through email, or face-to-face. I cannot think of a single meaningful reaction I’ve had on Facebook. It’s kind of just a black hole in my life that wastes my time and makes me creepily knowledgeable about people I don’t spend any significant amount of time with.

We’ll see how long I can hold out. Hopefully it’s for a while! I feel so free.

  1. I find when you quit checking facebook, email, or any sites it takes about 2 weeks for you to really break it, but after that you don’t miss it at all.

  2. this makes me sad 😦

    reconnect!
